Why you should vote for this non-profit
The Riverview International Center (RIC) is a nonprofit organization that empowers our New American neighbors by supporting individuals, strengthening families and nurturing community. Located in an apartment among our neighbors, sandwiched in between Riverside Hospital and OSU’s University Village, the RIC office is a place where people can walk in and receive help with any question they may have about navigating life in America. If we cannot provide the help ourselves, we will work hard to find someone that can. Nearly all of our clients have come to us by word of mouth, which shows the RIC has a high level of trust and rapport in the community. The RIC’s utmost priority is to welcome our New American neighbors with a kind attitude and listening ear so that all know their worth and dignity in their new country..

Often, a family who just landed in the United States, will come to the RIC days later asking for guidance. Questions range from job hunting and school enrollment to “where can I buy shampoo?” or “how can I join your English class?” As a community, we find ourselves celebrating and combining different cultural holidays, birthday celebrations, new jobs, births and passing citizenship tests while also comforting one another in family deaths, car accidents and job loss.

We asked our children to draw pictures for our sailboat because children are a big part of most of our meetings and socializations. We also wanted to feature children because the Kiwanis Club does so much to support children. The RIC was also the recipient of our first Kiwanis grant to help fund our summer children's program. We utilize many volunteers to multiply the work of our few employees. Your donation will be stewarded wisely to help more New Americans.
