My Very Own Blanket

My Very Own Blanket is dedicated to warming the heart of every child in the foster care system with a blanket, to give them a feeling of comfort, security and most of all, a SMILE.

For over 24 years, My Very Own Blanket has provided hundreds of thousands of blankets to children in the foster care system. We partner with schools, universities, service organizations, faith based organizations, senior living communities, developmentally disabled centers and individual community members to make each blanket and then distribute to public and private foster care agencies. These blankets are provided to the organizations at no charge to them.

How can a blanket make a difference?

"Ariel, our foster daughter, received a MVOB blanket recently; it was made by Monica. It was purple, Ariel’s favorite color. She takes it everywhere – doctor appointments, ride in the car, and to her foster Nana’s house.

​We just wanted to say, “Thank you so much.” Your blanket means so much to a young girl who had nothing to call her own. She is so proud of the name tag. She shows it to everyone. Thanks for all that you do! We appreciate your kindness!"
