Your Rescue Story
Meet Arson! He spends his days sleeping on our pillows, scratching at his scratching tree, watching birds on the lawn. He loves being in between his pet parents anywhere in the house. His favourite time is when we go to bed and he can cuddle between us. We are Arsons 3rd pet parents. He is approximately 6 years old. We rescued him from a family in AirdrIe who were not able to keep their pets due to financial insecurity and home loss. We were told that he was rescued by them when they saw someone dumping him out into the cold snow on a highway near Airdrie. He is a very special, loving cat. We do not know how the name Arson came about. We assume it’s because of his black speckled nose ( Lentigines ). He has sky blue eyes that are a little bit crossed. Beige silky hair with red tabby muted stripping on his face and tail. His vet told us that he is a Red point (flame point) Siamese. It doesn’t matter to us what breed he is, we couldn’t be happier and feel luckier that we have the privilege of being his pet parents. We had decided a few years ago that we were not going to become pet parents again as we had loved and lost 3 cats within the same year. Shady, Princess and Squeek lived for more than 20 years with us. We rescued Shady when he was small enough to sit in the palm of your hand. We had to teach him how to eat and use the litter. He came from a crack house in Calgary. The people living in the home had picked up the kittens before they were ready and the mother cat rejected the kittens. Princess was a homeless kitten who had just had a litter of kittens. She wax too little and she was living under a porch in a construction zone during a cold winter. Her kittens did not survive and she had an infection. Squeak was rescued from a shelter in Calgary. He could not meow properly and only let out squeaks . We loved them as if they were our children. Princess survived after being diagnosed with fatty liver syndrome. She was fed through a feeding tube at home for more than 2 months. Squeek lived most of his life as a fat cat. He unfortunately developed diabetes. He lived for more than 5 years after with daily insulin shots and glucose testing. Shady passed away in the arms of his parents. We believe he had suffered a stroke. We were set on never getting a pet again as the love for these 3 cats and their loss was devastating. Then came Arson, who has again changed our lives forever. Brought the love of 6 cats in one. I will never understand how anyone, let alone 2 previous pet parents would ever let him go. He can not be trusted around ribbon, feathers, strings or plastic. He will eat them!! He loves his wet food treat and greenies tuna cat treats. He tries to hustles us both with his big blue eyes, and sad expression when ever one of us leaves or comes home. He had some dental problems this last year and had to have two dental operations. He was a trooper when it came to the many trips to the dentist. The multitude of pain meds and antibiotics that we had to put in his mouth. He hates being put in a kennel and having his claws cut. Even with his struggles, he is the love of our lives and we hope that he lives forever. Rescue a cat and find the treasure that a cat can bring to your lives.
