Pet's Story or Bio
I only know Phoebe from when I met her at 1 years old, at a NOT no-kill pound. She was on the short list (no pun intended) as everyone wanted guard dogs or pure breds and she didn’t make the grade for either. She is a corgi-lab mix, basically a lab body with 11” corgi legs lol. She survived the first year of her life on the streets, fending for herself against the weather and predators. We met and it was obvious she was our family. The first days with us, we caught her walking across the dining room table; what was a table? Just another surface to a street survivor. Her clear intelligence helped her to quickly get in sync, and she figured out how to enjoy the new life. The first season with us, while sitting on the enclosed covered porch, it started to rain and she stood up and went and sat under the table, not in fear or anxiety; it was her muscle memory that told her to get out of the rain. A survivor. Made us tear up. She is the most lovable girl with her stumpy legs, and immediately wins the attention of anyone that sees that “curious looking dog”. The fact that she barely escaped being euthanized breaks my heart as she is such a big personality. I tell my colleagues visiting no-kill shelters, which are wonderful, don’t be afraid to visit an old school dog pound, it’s a rough visit but there are many lives that need rescued there too.
