I have been owned by Isabelle for 6 1/2 years. We are her flock and she takes her roll of guardian very seriously. But I have also seen the true Pyr wanderlust spirit in my girl and have always feared losing her if she ever got off leash. And then we were involved in an automobile accident. Her tethered leash was snapped and she jumped through the open window and as I struggled to stay conscious my only thought was I would never see her again. I don't remember getting out of the seatbelt or opening the door, but I was running after her, watching her turn down a dirt driveway headed for the woods. I was sobbing and couldn't speak. And as I turned down the driveway, expecting to see her running faster and faster, there she was. She had turned and was headed back - to me. She stopped and leaned against me, that Pyr lean, holding me up, guarding me. The EMS said when they put me on the stretcher she tried to jump up with me. She was not going to leave me. She is my girl and I am hers. Those eyes. They say so much.
