Animal BioLexi, a Mexican rescue, was a street dog for the first year and a half of her life. I adopted her in March, 2024. She was so scared of everything, her first instinct was to bolt and run! Especially fearful of people approaching her, but accepted me as her person. Its taken us a year almost now to work on overcoming fear of strangers... she still wont let anyone else come up to her to pet her. We work on treats from hands from strangers, I take her with me everywhere I can, stores that allow pets on leashes...she never knew what "toys" were, what to do with them...playing...she always showed a keen interest in other dogs though. Ive finally got her to the point where I can let her go, leashless, in a fenced contained dog area where she can do what she likes. Recall is pretty good, she recognizes me as a safe place to run back to when overcome by some dogs that will chase her in an agressive way...but she will run right into me sometimes and has knocked me down hard a couple of times! She really is a cutie, and a sweetie, and everyone wants to pet her, but she still is untrusting. She loves to run. She loves to do Zoomies! I think she must have a touch of whippit in her; shes a lean machine and is fast! She makes me laugh, as I watch her run, such joy in her, makes me want to cry...I love her so much...
