Tormund is an SPCA rescue two times over now. He was originally an SPCA rescue as a kitten. During the 2016 floods in northeastern BC, when he was 5 years old, he was discovered by a landlord, having been left to starve presumably after the renters evacuated. Thankfully he was found in time and brought to the Richmond SPCA to receive emergency medical care. He was still underweight when we adopted him. He's a big giant of a cat with long legs and a red "beard" so he was named in honour of Tormund Giantsbane (Game of Thrones). He is now, not surprisingly, Jon Snow's best friend (a snowshoe cat we adopted from the SPCA in Victoria in 2014). He's a fan of water and spends time attacking water droplets on the shower curtain. Tormund's a super alert guy always aware of everything that's going on. He sleeps at my feet every night and likes to chat and chirp. Tormund's a hero because he's been let down and yet continues to trust -- I can't think of much that is tougher to do than to believe that the next human will have your back forever when none of them have done that to date. It's an honour to have his back.
