Mabel is a wonderful girl who came to us as a very skittish kitten 14 years ago. Although she has been likened to 'a loaf of bread on legs', she has always attracted her fair share of gentlemen callers. She was very fond of our two boy cats, Fruin and Rover, particularly the former, and although both of them are now gone, Mabel still has their toys (all named 'Mousy') and counts them among her very favourites.
It is rumoured that Mabel is descended from royalty, as she has informed us that her full name is 'Her Majesty, Mrs. Mabel, Queen of the Hedge and Everywhere Else, Probably.' Mabel certainly rules the hedge outside our home and keeps all the critters within in check, including raccoons, skunks, birds, and other cats. The dogs she ignores completely. In her spare time, she enjoys sleeping, snoozing, napping, resting, yoga, hula-hooping and dark Scandinavian TV drama. She also fronts an eponymous jazz band, 'Mabel and the Hedgetones' in her spare time.
