Bio
Woo is a 35 year old reeves turtle. My husband was 6 years old, when his grandmother purchased Woo from a food market. Woo was likely going to become someones dinner, had they not saved him. When my husbands family immigrated to Canada 25 years ago, Woo came with them and became a Canadian turtle.
He is a palm size turtle, with a shell that is too small for his body. Due to this, his arms and legs have more mobility, allowing him to move very fast - speedy Woo, we call him. He comes to me when I call his name. He asks to be fed by staring at his feeding tub when he wants to eat. He is tiny in size but big in personality. He likes to lift his head so that he has eye contact when, you're taking to him. He gets grumpy when he doesn't like something and he will show his displeasure by banging on the baseboard with his shell. Oh, did I mention -- he's toilet trained!
For those of you that think turtles are just cold blooded, hairless, boring pets, that just sits in the tank all day - it can't be farther from the truth. Woo spends a lot of time walking around freely at home and has lots of daily interaction with us - this in turn allowed his true personality to shine through and what a little character he is.
Woo is the best turtle in the world and we are so fortunate to have this little guy in our lives :) He is truly very special.
