While strolling through the quiet paths above a pond in Jericho, I spotted these two treefrogs (Hyla regilla ) nestled on a blackberry leaf. Just newly formed frogs, these two were about the size of my thumbnail. An extremely important part of our ecosystem, they can be green, bronze, grey, and all colours in between. They always have a black stripe across their eyes and nose. They can live away from water because their skin has a waxy coating that helps keep them moist.
