How to enter

Starting July 15, 2017, photos taken in BC can be entered into the contest. The contest closes September 15, 2017 and winners will be announced mid-October 2017. An entry fee of $5 is charged for each photograph and there is no maximum number of entries. There is also a donate-to-vote option for a People's Choice Award.  The 52 photos with the most votes will be featured on an exclusive Wildlife-In-Focus deck of cards. Payment is made on a secure web page using a major credit card. Read the rules

Judging

The BC SPCA Wildlife-In-Focus Wildlife Photography Contest is open to all photographers at least 14 years of age*, with the exception of Wild ARC employees. All photographs must be taken in British Columbia. The BC SPCA reserves the right to verify, in its sole judgment, winner eligibility.

We are looking for striking images from green spaces, beaches, roadsides and your backyard, that represent the resiliency of local wildlife living at the interface with humans. The BC SPCA Wild ARC cares for more than 3,000 injured and orphaned wild animals a year.

Photographs will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. All decisions by the judges will be final and binding. In addition to the judge's choices, there will also be a donate-to-vote People's Choice Award

* youth can participate in the BC SPCA Kid's Club contests

All images must be digital and photos may be colour or black and white. Photographers may enter a single or multiple images; there is no maximum number of entries per participant.
