A little about me...
At 10 years old, Anri was rescued from a hoarding situation in rural West VA and transferred here, where an exam found she was underweight and had hidden injuries.

An AWLA vet removed bb pellets from her neck and took care of the eye injury they had likely caused, and found she has FIV.

After she healed, we brought out little walking emoji girl (😜) home. She didn’t know what the sound of a can of food opening was, or the shake of a box of treats. We are grateful to Joe, the behavioralist we worked with at AWLA, for helping us prepare our home for this traumatized little girl.

A year later she’s a healthy weight, loves to play with toy mice and watch birds, and is a little obsessed with chicken and getting head scratches. She still doesn’t love the vacuum, but who does?! (You can check out more on IG @Bec215d, if you’re interested to see her journey over the past year.)

She’s the second senior kitty we’ve adopted from AWLA. We’re so appreciative of the staff and volunteers at Animal Friends of Barbour County and AWLA for all you do.
