Pet's Story
One cold Rocky Mountain winter day, I was found in the engine compartment of a car that had pulled into the parking lot of O'Reilly's Auto Parts (hence the moniker 😊). I was a very lucky kitty as I was then taken to the Ark-Valley Humane Society where it was WARM, food and water were plentiful, and the people wonderful! After my surgery 😨, bloodwork, immunizations and examination I was adopted by one of the volunteers who couldn’t resist my sad and confused contenance. She later told me her wonderful cat baby of 19 years had gone over the Rainbow Bridge just a year before and it was finally time to give a new feline companion a forever home. She chose ME !!!
She decided that I had been a feral kitty as I spent the whole 1st week in my new abode under her bed! I was afraid of everything and terribly suspicious of every sound and vibration, a true "scaredy cat." I am still afraid of all humans who visit, but I love my new home, the only one I have ever known.
I love my mom and dad now as well as my dog and cat housemates (although I still run and hide when strangers are around 😦). I began life in my new home (after coming out from under the bed) by sleeping in a cat bed on the floor, later I moved to the foot of mom's bed, then the middle, and now i share her pullow! When my family watches TV in the evenings I doze on the back of the sofa with my head and front paws over her shoulder. If she's prone, I'm on her chest purring up a storm; I'm doing my best to not become a "lap" cat. but who knows what the future may bring ☺.
Abby, my canine friend, is my best animal buddy. She tells me that she was rescued from a family who kept her in a cage for 10 hours a day 😢 and before that lived semi-wild on an Indian reservation. Lynx, also rescued by my family, tells me he was living on the street before he got adopted. We are all so glad we had the good luck (or was it charm, looks, and personality?) that brought us together!
I love my forever family and hope that someday all the homeless cats and dogs will find a place in people's hearts and homes like I have.
Yours truly, Bill
