Pet's Story
I was working at a veterinary clinic in Charleston, SC when Gabby's mom was rushed into our office, rescued from an unfit home by one of my co-workers. She was about to give birth, and I watched as three little kittens came into this world. Each of them had beautiful markings and one, in particular, caught my eye! As I watched the three kittens grow, I fell more in love!

The only pets I'd ever had were hamsters and fish - I'd always been a dog lover, but since I started working at the clinic, I'd become more fascinated by cats and their unique personalities. I wanted a kitty of my own, but I was living with my parents and didn't think they would approve of a new furry roommate. I severely underestimated the power of Gabby's beauty and charm! I brought my mom in to meet the kittens, and she was drawn to Gabby, too! My dad reluctantly agreed to let us adopt this little furball, and just like that, we were cat parents!

We loved watching all of Gabby's antics - chasing lizards, playing hide-and-seek, doing the kitty crab-walk, and quickly becoming the queen of the household! A few years later, I moved into my own apartment and my parents were thrilled to keep Gabby so they wouldn't be empty nesters. She slept with them every night and even converted my dad into a cat lover!

This past month, 10 years after Gabby was born, she left this earth. We are all heartbroken and it hurts to know that we'll never see her wiggly tail greeting us at the door, or feel her long, silky fur rub up against our legs as she waits to be fed. We are so grateful for the time we had with her, and we ask that you donate in Gabby's memory, to help other cats and dogs who need loving homes.

Here is a tribute from my mom, Debbie (Gabby's REAL mom):

I miss that cute little dance she'd do at feeding time. She would always shake her tail when she was about to get fed or simply when she was excited. I've never seen anything like it!!

I miss the nights she slept by my side, hogging the bed with her feet all over me.

I miss those crazy-sharp claws digging into my legs while she laid in my lap making "biscuits."

I miss her sitting in the room with me as I worked on the computer. My little shadow. She demanded attention quite frequently, and I was happy to give it to her.

I miss talking to her. I talked to her all the time. She would even meow back in response.

I miss her excitement as she watched the lizards and squirrels outside. If I yelled LIZARD or SQUIRREL, she would be by my side in a flash!

I miss playing with her and laughing at her antics.

I simply miss everything about her. She was truly a special one-of-a-kind cat.

I thank God (and Meredith!) for blessing me with her in my life these past 10 years. She always put a smile on my face. When I was down, she was there to cheer me up. When I was sick, she knew it and stayed by my side. I will never forget that. I love animals, and this cat meant the world to me. I will never forget her. I am truly heartbroken, and miss her dearly!

Please give your pet a hug and kiss for me. They truly are our best friends during our time here on earth.
