Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
I've always enjoyed photographing flowers and on this particular Hawaii trip I was graced with a beautiful sunny morning after an evening rain. I could say I only love it because pink is my favorite color, but more importantly to me is that it emits an amazing message of hope and peace through its Hawaiian spirit. Photographed on a Canon 40D.

Artist Bio: Tell Us Your Story
I'm a survivor at the core of my being. Because of that, or maybe in spite of it, I find the most joy in life through traveling. Exploring new places and finding beauty throughout makes my heart sing and my spirit soar. My favorite place to be is on a beach somewhere with a pocket full of shells and a camera in my hand. My happy place is definitely wherever I can go to get outside myself and forget for a moment that I'm in constant fight or flight.

I just turned 55, am single, and live in the foothills of the Sierras in California. I stay busy volunteering and helping my aging parents maintain their health and household (I never thought I'd be saying those words!). I'm a member of an organization called American Association of University Women and I'm proud to help raise funds for college scholarships for young and old women alike. In my spare time I run a craniopharyngioma Facebook group, journal, enjoy photography and anything crafty I can get my hands on.
