Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
I used acrylic paint on a canvas, watercolor paint and pencil.
It took me 3 days adding a bunch of layers. I like doing art because it’s fun and it’s colorful. Sometimes it’s hard to be patient with paint to dry and I wish I could just snap my fingers and it was done. It’s a painting of how I felt when my brother had to get surgery.
I painted this when I was 6.5 and I’m 8 now.

My brother had a brain tumor when he was 9 and I was 4.
I missed my brother and my mom, I had to stay in a hotel with dad two minutes away. It was the first time I was away from them for that long. We are usually all together.
I didn’t like that he had to be in the hospital so long. It must have felt really bad for him because he had headaches.
