Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
Materials used - LAYTEX, PLASTIC TUBING, STUDY MODEL OF HUMAN HEART, Wadding
The piece was an experiment that turned out pretty amazing
To create this 3D latex heart I moulded a cast around a heart of a study model heart taken from a human skeleton model. Once the Plaster had set I removed it from the study heart by cutting it in half. Which then left me with a mould to fill with latex. I dyed the latex a pinky red to create the organ heart colour. Once the latex set I removed it from the cast and superglued the 2 half’s of the heart back together. As the 3D structure was now flimsy I stuffed it with wadding to give it structure and added 2 pipings that I painted blue and red to create the gena cava and pulmonary artery

Artist Bio: Tell Us Your Story
10 years ago today (25.4.24) I was diagnosed with a Craniopharyngioma. I have had to give up many things that I love such as dance and gymnastics and circus skills .
Being able to do art, craft and textiles is the 1 thing I am still able to enjoy even whilst applying my love of science abd the human body at the same time
