Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
I enjoying painting on fabric. This is a painting I did on the back of a jacket that I am wearing for my 50th Wedding Anniversary party. The flowers in general represent all of the joys I have been fortunate to have in those 50 Years. The roses particularly represent the roses my husband gives me for every anniversary. All of this is joined together to show the beauty of those years. The design was painted with Decoart SoSoft paints on a denim jacket.

Artist Bio: Tell Us Your Story
I am blessed to be Raymond A. Wood's (Alex) grandmother. Alex is a very special joy of my life. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was only four years old. I was with his parents when he was operated on and will never forget when the doctor came out and said, "We got it all and it is benign." We thought he would wake up immediately. When he didn't, the reality of what he would fight over the years began. Many times I came into a hospital room when he was crying and would call, "Grandma" to me. My heart wanted to make everything alright for him, but that was not to be.
I am so proud of the person Alex is as he just accepts life as it comes. He enjoys little things like a pretty shell on the beach as he fights big battles in his life everyday. He gives the best hugs that are always so special and never comes to my house without a picture he made for me. We share a special love of art and I always enjoy sharing new art supplies with him.
From the beginning my daughter, Amy Wood, was determined to do something about the lack of support and guidance there were for
parents of craniopharyngiome survivors. Her father and I are so proud of the work she has done to start this foundation and the amount of families she has helped. It is an honor to participate in this art show. Thank you to everyone who votes for me and supports this wonderful foundation.
