Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)Oil on canvas of Jacob, a Chief Neurosurgical Resident at UCSF beginning an operation on a tumor of the skull base. His relaxed attitude and confidence was evident throughout the procedure. There was economy of motion. I painted this from a video and tried to capture his essence, gestures, and his focus hile he operated.
Artist Bio: Tell Us Your StoryI'm a physician and director of the pituitary center at UCSF. I care for patients with craniopharyngioma and other tumor and disease types that affect the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. I am co-founder of PituitaryWorld News. I like to draw parallels between the art of medicine and the art of representation through painting and other creative forms. I enjoy painting our residents and gift them the paintings as graduation presents.
