Artist Statement
Art has impacted my life in a meaningful way because it has allowed me to find an avenue for my emotions. Whether I am experiencing anger, sadness, or pure joy, I find comfort in art. It is an outlet for the soul.

My favorite medium is writing. I most enjoy poetry because the written word is where my story truly comes alive. I don’t even have to speak a word for my voice to travel. That silence is where the most noise can be made.

My name is Catherine St. James and I consider myself blessed to have two birthdays. The day I was actually born is February 23, 1991. But my “rebirth” (the day I survived a 10-hour craniotomy to remove a craniopharyngioma) is August 11, 2005
