Artist Statement
Art has given me a way to fight back against the limits this tumor tried to set for me, and I’ll always be grateful art found its way into my life. As far as mediums go, I like to broaden my horizons every day, but I am especially passionate about sculpture using all different materials including plaster, foam, silicon, wood, etc. I found Art of Surviving through Facebook the first year of the online exhibition and thought it was an amazing opportunity to share what I do everyday with other survivors. Now we’re here in the third year of the exhibition and I can’t wait to see everyone’s work.

Bio
My names Lysette Palacio I’m 22 years old, and I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma 10/10/2000. I am nearly 20 years in remission after a full craniotomy on full hormone replacements with loss of sight in my right eye and tunnel vision in my left. Art has impacted my life in several ways. It kept me going during tough times it was something to look forward to and a way to express myself when there were no words to describe what I was going through. As many survivors can say our fight hasn’t ended it’s a long war of attrition for each day.
