Pet's Story or Bio
Niya was owner surrendered to a city pound in Tennessee. She had been brutally abused, starting with having her ear cut with scissors as a puppy. She had wounds on her head in the shape of a hoe, and her body was covered in new and old slashes, cuts and punctures. She was completely shut down and broken. She wouldn't move. We had to carry her to get her anywhere and she would pee if she was picked up. She shuddered and shrank away from any touch. She wanted nothing to do with any human at all. In only three days in our rescue, Niya arrived at our bedside in the middle of the night asking to be pet. Niya is on her way to recovery, and will be available for adoption when she is finally well. We are grateful to have found her and are hopeful that some day soon we get to see her run through the yard, her tongue hanging out the side of her big smile. We would love for Niya to grace the cover of our Calendar, but that would be up to the voters!
