Pet's Story or BioIn March of 2022, we noticed a ginger cat hanging around our yard quite a bit. We soon discovered he was living under our shed. He was on the thin side, so I started putting some dry food and a bowl of water in the carport for him. At first, I was not allowed to even look at him, but over time, he became less and less fearful of me. Then one day, he just jumped into my lap. We didn't know if he was a stray or feral, so we took him to ARF to get his shots and they discovered he had a chip that read, Catch and Release, Palm Springs Animal Shelter. We don't know how he managed to get from Palm Springs to Pine Cove, but here he was.
During the summer of 2022, he began living on our deck. We built him a cat house, complete with heat and blankets for winter. However, when winter arrived in full swing, he decided snow was not his jam, even with a heated cat house and so he decided to be brave and come into our house. Initially, we had a few ups and downs, but now, 3 years on, he lives in the house full time and is the best boy. He still likes to hang around outside, but he doesn't go far and he usually comes when I call him. In the summer, he spends his days sleeping on his favorite chair out on the deck. He is quite spoiled and I am pretty sure he thinks of us as just his servants, there to open the door for him, serve him his favorite food and treats and give belly rubs on demand. But we wouldn't have it any other way.
