Don’t let that sweet face fool you. Junebug, a former stray in West Virginia before we adopted her in June 07, is a vigilant and effective police presence in our yard. With the help of her deputy, our younger rescue dog Rufus, she has consistently kept all squirrels, birds and rabbits at bay –even if she has to catch a few to show she means it. When off duty, she wakes us with kisses each morning to let us know it’s time for breakfast. In the evenings, she guards us from her comfy perch of cushions on the couch, always climbing to the highest one. Despite her advancing years and some health issues, she still shines with personality, and everyone who meets her immediately falls in love with her when she wags her bushy tail and showers them with kisses.
