Your Pet's Story or Bio
Was there ever a more unlikely tale of survival than Monkey’s? Starved, abandoned and left to die, Monkey was a skeleton of a dog. Bedraggled and smelly with patchy hair and dead eyes, she could barely stand. When given water for the first time after her ordeal, she fell over on the floor. Witnesses were sure she was about to die before their eyes. But Monkey had a stronger spirit than her weakened body. When I first met her at the shelter, she cowered in a corner of the restroom and growled defensively. Coerced by an unnamed person of German descent, I put her in my car and took her home. She hid in a corner of our play yard that night until I could lasso her to bring her inside. The next day, she allowed me to put a leash on her, and gave me her trust. She has never looked back. These days, you can find Miss Monkey motoring around the yard, triumphantly waving a stolen toy in the faces of her adopted siblings. Evenings she spends snuggled up to her mama, watching reruns of Cheers and M.A.S.H. She has triumphed over evil and become a beautiful loving girl with a thick shiny coat and a gorgeous plume of a tail. Believe there is life and hope after abuse. Vote for Monkey.
