Even though River was adopted in April, she wasn't born until June 9th. We actually had no idea what we were in for when we adopted her mother, a pit mix named Calliope, from the Allegany Shelter. It was the day we adopted 7 dogs. Calle was about three weeks pregnant and no one had a clue! So we spoiled her throughout her pregnancy and helped deliver six healthy puppies in my bedroom closet. Five of the puppies found loving homes and River, of course, stayed with us and her Mama. She is still getting bigger everyday, and she can leap about three feet in the air if she is excited enough. And while she may look sweet, always remember that there are some Rivers you don't want to cross!
