A little about me...
Ankara is from Basra, Turkey. She has clearly been well-loved at some point in her eight years as she has gentle manners and is unfailingly polite. However, her time as a street dog left some emotional scars as her first priority is to feel safe and her second is room service.
Ankara bonded quickly with her new sibling, Poppy, and enjoys running while singing the chorus of Poppy's "Squirrel/Rabbit in the Garden" song.
Ankara loves her yellow ball and invites me into the garden to play fetch by going half-way onto the deck then turning to look at me. It took me a few minutes to catch on when she first did this. Ankara obviously has not found language to be a barrier to communication.
This photograph was taken while Ankara and I were watching "Stray Dogs of Istanbul" and captured her reaction to hearing the muezzin's Call to Prayer."
Thank you to ABESR and to Ankara's foster family for the gift of this loving, happy setter.
