Comet was adopted through Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue in 2010 at about four months old. Rescued in Oklahoma, she had been transported across the country by Above and Beyond volunteers to a foster family just a few hours from our New Jersey home. I think this may be why she has always been so comfortable riding in a car. While playful and outgoing with her foster family and us, we quickly noticed that she was very timid with others. To remedy this, Comet became a fixture at every "dog friendly" location I could find. She would eventually become known by name at all of them. Many patient, dog loving people and their pets helped her to overcome her initial shyness. We currently live in Fort Collins, Colorado a beautiful and very dog friendly area. Comet takes full advantage of the places to explore and the room to run. While she will never be outgoing or boisterous she now makes friends, canine and human, wherever we go. Comet just turned nine years old and she has become a perfect companion. The term most often used to describe her is sweet, and that suits her perfectly. We may be making one more move in a few months and I think she is actually looking forward to exploring new places and making more friends.
