Jessie Mae, adopted from A&B in August 2008, had never, ever known what a family is or what love is. She was abandoned at a FL shelter, left overnight in a drop box w/no ID. Breaks my heart just thinking about that! What little is known of her history is an assumption: kennel bred with min. human contact, and gun shy. She was totally on the wild side when we rescued her, and it was obvious she had never seen the inside of a home! LOTS of LOVE, training, attention, and patience were a must. She is now the most loving, gentle girl one could imagine. Gretchen, whom we "adopted into our family" from A&B one year after Jessie Mae, has a totally different background. We know her DOB, she has had "family," she's a couch potato, and she sticks to you like velcro. She doesn't realize that she's too big to be a lap dog. Our family is blessed, we cannot imagine life without our girls - we don't, it's too painful! Who does Daddy call out for when he gets home from work? His girls - his beloved, furry girls! Then it's my turn, the wife, still waiting for her pat on the head! I know we are prejudiced, but I believe that my girls are the most loving, beautiful and special dogs in the world! Then again, so were all the others that came before Jessie and Gretchen.
