About six years ago, Gage was dumped by his original owner at a high kill shelter in North Carolina with the label, "too old to hunt." At the tender age of about 18 months, that was far, far away from truth. The truth is, Gage was heart worm positive, and the owner probably didn't want to spend money and time on the expensive and grueling treatment. Thankfully, Above & Beyond ESR stepped in, placed Gage in a foster home, got him all healed up, and then he found his way across many states, with the help from many volunteer drivers, to our home. The rest is, as the saying goes, history.
Today, Gage is a happy, gentle, loving, well adjusted setter who loves being with his family, chasing squirrels in his yard, playing with his toys, and above all going on road trips. This photo was taken on one such road trip in Nebraska, where he enjoyed running through the fallen leaves in a park.
