Hank came to A&B Rescue from Kentucky. He traveled all the way to the Finger Lakes area of New York to be with his foster mom. On the A&B adoption page, I knew Hank was for me. His color, curly silky feathers and gentle looks were just like my very first setter of 14 years, who recently passed. After a five hour ride on a snowy day, I met my "new boy". Hank greeted me with a very gentle standing hug. His paws were on my shoulders, and his tail wagged shyly. Soon he was curled up and quietly rode all the way home where he politely fit right into the pack. Now at home, Hank soon revealed that he REALLY had the "hugging setter" trait. For over three years now, every day, Hank must get his hug(s). Oh no- I don't seek him out for the hug! When Hank has finished stalking his morning birds in the garden, over he comes where I am seated for the first hug of the day. With a graceful upward stand, he lightly puts his paws on my shoulders. Heart to heart, we then exchange a sweet eye gaze. As I lower my face, Hank gives his "mom" some very gentle kisses on her forehead. This is HIS routine, he taught me! Now, I hug him back and say, "I love you, too Hank. I really see what a gentle wonderful soul you are. Thank you for coming into my life".
