Pet's Story or Bio
Booker is a 23 year old male caique who used to be the Children's library bird at the downtown branch of the Brown County Public Library in Green Bay. That's how he got his name. Caiques are very active birds, rubbing their beaks and mouthing the fingers on those handling them. He was retired when his natural behaviors became too much for the staff and the kids. I adopted him when the librarian who took him home developed terminal medical issues. Booker still loves to meet new people, and has many fans among my friends. Most of all, he loves to cuddle with me nightly for at least an hour before it's birdie bedtime. Many folks are surprised to learn how loving and interactive many bird species can be. As my own health has deteriorated, Booker remains a constant companion daily bringing me joy, laughter and affection.
