From discarded rescue to service dog*

Roo was rescued by law enforcement, full of heartworms, and brought to Greenwood Humane Society. On Sept 11, 2021 we met this sweet boy and fell in love. Not discouraged by his heartworm diagnosis we fostered him then adopted after his treatment. He came to us with some of his own fears - especially loud noises.

Fast forward to 2023, my husband enrolled him and Roo in Service Dogs for Veterans. The 9-month service dog program takes daily focused training and dedication, keeping them both in the present moment. Roo has overcome so many of his own fears in service of my husband & can now stand under a hand dryer because of the confidence he’s gained. Roo has found his niche and serves his Marine proudly. Proof that every dog, every person can have a second chance.
